How it works

C2DNA is proud to introduce a revolutionary new technology for fast and accurate DNA testing.

Every living organism has DNA. It encodes everything that makes us who we are. Even though the genes that encode essential functions are more or less the same between various species, each of us has fragments of DNA that make us completely unique. We use a sequencing method that looks at this individuality.

DNA sequencing is the most exact method for determining the order of the nucleotides in a genome. DNA molecule is a chain of small nucleotides A, T, G and C. The order of the nucleotides contains instructions for the synthesis and function for an organism.

The methods we use is called Sanger’s sequencing. It was invented by Frederick Sanger, who won a Nobel Prize for this invention. This method is also called chain termination method. It rapidly became a popular method for DNA sequencing and is now known as “golden standard”.  Current modifications allow for automation of the method, this way the dye labeled nucleotides are all in one vessel and are separated and read by a laser cell in an machine. Even though there are several methods available that can determine DNA sequence or tell a genotype without sequencing (only 80% to 90% accuracy), Sanger method is still the most accurate (99.999%).

Our company has exclusive to Canada rights for using a patented methodology, which is based on Sanger sequencing and can determine the genotypes of several genetic locations in a single reaction.

We look at the sequence and interpret the results. Our entire process is automated, which ensures our accuracy and improves our turn-around time. Since we use the actual DNA sequence, we are able to identify the particular gene mutation.

All tests are shipped via Purolator and require a duration of 2-3 business days for shipment.

It takes 7-14 working days to obtain the result.
